About the role
We are looking for a highly-motivated, versatile Technical Designer to help Applied design and deliver wayfinding projects through high-quality drawings and BIM. As a Technical Designer you will contribute to the management of BIM data sets, review and manage incoming and outgoing project models, and support the delivery of construction design packages. This will involve coordination and collaboration with our multidisciplinary team, and managing and adhering to BIM standards.

We also expect you to have an active input in the strategic thinking and design process right from the start of a project, and to contribute to client presentations and team coordination by producing visuals and models to communicate the designs.

We are looking for an organised, clear-thinking, detail-oriented person with an interest in spaces and how people experience and navigate them. Prior wayfinding experience is useful but not essential for the role.

You will be joining our established office in London. The role will be predominantly studio based though we also offer flexible working arrangements and support home working.

We offer a career in a fascinating and important field, in which you will work as part of a wider team of designers, planners, strategists and researchers across all stages of our projects, delivering innovative wayfinding and information systems for the world’s leading organisations, institutions and cities.

Who we are looking for
We will select applicants based on merit including relevant experience, demonstrated ability, and commitment to the role. We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Proficiency in the use of Revit, and an understanding of related collaboration and coordination software, such as BIM360
  • The ability to be highly collaborative, and to work on your own initiative proactively
  • The ability to identify deliverable and contractual requirements, including reviewing and contributing to BIM execution plans and ensuring standards and processes are incorporated on projects
  • Experience in creating highly legible and organised construction documents
  • Excellent communication skills and foresight to communicate coordination or design issues within a project, and the skills to help find resolutions to them
  • Interest in providing BIM-related technical support and mentoring to the rest of the team
  • A degree in industrial design, architecture or interior design, or a related field, is beneficial but not essential
  • Fluency in languages other than English is an advantage but not essential

We will select applicants based on merit including relevant experience, skills, and interest in the role. We are a company that is fully committed to advancing people and society and looking after the planet. Applied is currently working towards B-Corp certification.
